Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Pope.
Hi Jada, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Basically, everything is centered around my children!
I started Boro Babe Events after doing my own baby shower back in 2018. I actually posted everything on Facebook to sell and got a lot of interest! I didn’t really take it seriously until I realized I was doing almost one event a week! It is now a full-time job and I even opened a balloon store to sell supplies to all fellow balloon artists and event planners!
As a boy mom of 2, the struggle is so real to find cute clothes. They are all covered in monster trucks and fire hydrants. I wanted to offer modern and neutral clothing to not mamas, and girl mamas. But the focus is definitely on our little boys who don’t get nearly as many options!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been tough. I officially launched both of these businesses during COVID. The balloon business completely took off and allowed me to quit my full-time job.
It was such a blessing but the road to it was definitely tough. I was working 40-50hours at my corporate job, while also putting in at least 30 to Boro Babe. I was exhausted! But I found the balance and I couldn’t be happier!
We’ve been impressed with Boro Babe Events & Designs and Hud & Jax, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I would say we are definitely known for our big balloon installs!
We put a lot of time and effort into the design and always make sure the client is super happy with the results. Our motto is “Bring your Pinterest dreams to life” because every good party starts on the Pinterest right?
Hud and Jax offer clothing and accessories for children, specifically boys. We carry sizes NB-10Y. We also carry Mom& Dad items, a nursery, and tons of custom orders!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My mom definitely deserves so much credit! She is my silent, not so silent. business partner. She saw the vision and knew it could be accomplished.
She pulled all-nighters blowing up balloons for corporate installs and huge events I had booked. She invested in the company allowing me to purchase our very first rentals and it was uphill from there!
