Daily Inspiration: Meet Gray Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gray Robinson.

Hi Gray, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Gray Robinson and I was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. I fell in love with music at a very young age. When I was nine, I eventually picked up the guitar and started learning how to play my favorite cover songs on Youtube.

Shortly after, I started writing my own songs and dreamed of moving to Nashville when I got older. Come August of 2017, I finally made the move and attended Belmont University. With time, I got immersed in Nashville’s songwriting community and met some of my favorite co-writers. Shortly after I graduated, I signed my first publishing deal and grew a following on Tiktok/Instagram where people wanted to hear my original music.

For the past year, I’ve been writing every day and releasing songs that are meaningful to me. I’ve still got a long way to go but I love the journey and I’m so grateful for all the amazing things that have happened in my career thus far.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I remember hearing someone tell me that the temperature of your career fluctuates and to prepare for really high highs and really low lows. It hasn’t always been easy but I think it’s part of the journey. I feel like you wouldn’t be able to appreciate the good days if it weren’t for the bad days.

There have definitely been a few bumps along the way and I know there will be more but I truly think it’s important to focus on what you can control and let go of the rest. I feel so blessed that I get to write songs as a living and have the opportunity to connect with people through my music. It doesn’t get better than that.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an artist/writer and I write songs for myself and others for a living.

It’s the best job on the planet. Some people would say they have found me on Tiktok or Instagram from one of the songs I have posted. Others have followed along from my appearances on The Bobby Bones show in March of 2021 or July of 2022. Either way, I am so grateful for every single person that listens to my music and is invested in this journey with me. I really want people to feel connected to my music.

This world can be a heavy place and if my music allows people to escape from that for a little, then that is enough for me. Whether it’s one person of thousands of people that are impacted, it’s fulfilling to me.

What do you think about luck?
This is such an interesting question. I believe that there is a bigger Hand that is orchestrating everything together in my life and in my career. It’s not that I don’t believe in “luck”, I just think that the meaning of “luck” for some people probably means something different to me.

I am a firm believer that you need to work hard in order to get where you want to go in life and I also believe that there are so many things that you can’t control. In my career, I believe that things/opportunities/successes that appear “lucky” on the outside are actually opportunities and doors that Jesus has given me/prayers that He has answered.
