Check Out Christin Sofka’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christin Sofka.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Photography has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember and it has become a defining part of who I am. When it came time to go to college and choose a topic to study, I knew there was nothing I wanted to learn about more than photography. So, in 2017 I graduated with a B.S. in photography from the University of Central Florida.

I primarily photograph weddings which is such a fun combination of all types of photography. When I was in college, I didn’t think I wanted to photograph weddings, but I did a few here and there and eventually the magic of the industry really drew me in. In 2023, I went full time with my business, and honestly wish I had done it sooner. I genuinely enjoy being able to create art for people with their love at its core. The emotion and beauty that happens on a wedding day is unmatched, and I am incredibly grateful to have a job that provides such value to others.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an artist and solo entrepreneur is not easy. I think the emotional and mental side of the business is often overlooked when it comes to education and resources. For a long time, I stood in my own way because I didn’t think it was possible for me to be successful as a full time photographer even though that had always been my end goal. Looking back, I wish I had taken the leap sooner, and I encourage anyone else who is in the same position to do it. With a business like this, you get out what you put in. I saw my business really take off once I was able to put all of my time and energy into it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a photographer that specializes in weddings and commercial/brand photography. My editing style is true to color and I document with both digital and film cameras. I take on a limited number of weddings each year because I don’t want to just show up, take photos, throw an edit on them and move on to the next one. I want to mirror the thought and intention that was put into making each wedding day so incredibly special.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t think there has been any sort of luck involved in my business journey. I have worked really hard to get to where I am today and continue to work hard to get to where I want to go!
