Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Spencer.
Hi Heather, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got married between my Junior and Senior years at Western Kentucky University. Three months after we got married, we discovered I was pregnant with our first son, who was born shortly after I graduated. Two weeks after September 11, 2001, the Army moved us to Fort Riley, KS, and our chaotic life began. Seventeen years later, after multiple deployments to Iraq, six moves, and five more children, I found myself back in Louisville with a retired Army husband, all of my children in school, and bored out of my mind. I have always enjoyed serving and initially started the process of going back to school to become a nurse, but on a whim, I signed up for online real estate classes and fell in love. In my first year in real estate, I was named, Rookie of the Year at Keller Williams Louisville East.
Currently, I am starting my fourth year in real estate, I am excited to be building my own Real Estate team. I am passionate about serving my clients and love honoring their journey from house to home.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Is anything in life a smooth road? I was starting to catch my stride in my new career when COVID hit. I was devastated, and yet we all pivoted. Even amid COVID and starting my new career, I was able to close 23 properties in my first full year in real estate!
It’s also been challenging to balance two working parents and six children! I don’t cook near as much as I used to, laundry isn’t done as quickly, and I “gasp”, we often have Crumbl cookies for birthday cakes rather than the homemade treats I used to make. It’s also been challenging to figure out all the business things! Becoming an LLC, hiring an accountant, a payroll company, a bookkeeper, and my first executive assistant all had their share of growing pains.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My team is called The Heather Spencer Group. I have sold properties in and around Louisville, but I especially love helping my North Oldham clients. I am obsessed with my job. My clients have lovingly referred to me as a “dog with a bone.” I love finding off-market properties for my clients!
Give me your criteria, and I will go to work finding you your dream home. Buying and selling a house is a highly stressful time for people. People don’t move because they think it will be “fun.” I provide exceptional service to my clients by being available and anticipating their every need and concern before they even have to ask. One day I hope to be the name in Louisville real estate by offering concierge service to sellers allowing them to get their houses ready for market quickly, efficiently, and beautifully, using my team of contractors and stagers.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I have always had a super strong personality. I rarely took no for an answer, and I remember EVERYTHING. Even as a kid, I never met a stranger and always had a smile on my face.
Tenacity and grit run in my bones. I am 100% sure I was a handful for my poor mother, but all my stubbornness and spunk have served me well as an Army wife, Mom of six, and Realtor!!
