Community Highlights: Meet Kalin Horton of Studio 1127 Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalin Horton.

Hi Kalin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started photography as a hobby in 2013 and quickly fell in love! I started offering family and senior portraits to local families and quickly grew to photograph births, engagements, and weddings. A few years later, I started working full time and didn’t have the time for photography as I used to. Last July, we welcomed our second baby into our family, and I became a stay-at-home mother. After adjusting to our new normal, I picked my camera back up in the fall. That same spark reignited that passion, and I reopened my photography business as, Studio 1127 Photography. While I provide family, maternity, senior sessions, and seasonal minis, my favorites are boudoir and couples! I work with families all over the Middle Tennessee area, capturing their stories.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Restarting my business under a new name from the ground up definitely has not been easy! Especially in such an over saturated market. But over the past seven months, I am finally starting to break through. I have partnered with some amazing vendors, made some great friends, and can’t wait to see what the next seven months offer!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m a lifestyle photographer based out of Columbia, Tennessee. While photographing everything from families to seniors all over Middle Tennessee, my passion lies with couples, boudoirs, and elopements.

Book 1, Chapter 1, Verse 27. “Made in His image.” It’s a verse that I hold close to my heart and the idea I bring into each session. There is nothing I love more than watching my clients leave sessions feeling more beautiful and empowered. Capturing your beautiful personal story is my goal.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
When I’m not behind the lens, you can find me at home with my husband and two little ones – knee-deep in arts and crafts or snuggled up on a rainy day drinking my 4-year-old must-have, “chocolate coffee” and singing along to our favorite Disney movies.
