Hi Thomas, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We both started doing hair in Birmingham. Matty in 2013 and Becca in 2015. We met while we were working at a supercuts in 2016. We moved up to Nashville in 2017. In august of 2019 we got married. Our son was born in 2022 and Becca decided to stay home with him instead of going back behind the chair. We’ve talked about opening our own shop for years but the time never felt quite right. Around July of 2025 we decided it was time. So Timber & Blade was born!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We’ve been through the ups and downs of the industry. We have witnessed just how amazing the hair world is and seen that there is still growth that needs to be done. Ultimately we feel like God has blessed us with on a path to where we are. In 2018 Matty started working for The Blockhouse. The people at Blockhouse are truly some of the best we’ve ever known. Thanks to Blockhouse we were blessed with the ability to hit many life milestones. We were able to have an amazing wedding, buy a house, and have our son. We were able to survive the COVID shutdown as well. There have been some rough times on our road to where we are. But we feel that God has truly blessed us and we want to spread those blessings as best as we can.

How do you think about luck?
We do believe that many things in our lives and the endeavor of this business have been “lucky”. However we like to think of it as being blessed and open to whatever direction we feel we are being led to by God.
