Conversations with Dawn Pfingsten

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Pfingsten.

Hi Dawn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a “late in life” mom with a teenager and a wonderful husband. We have a small business and recently moved and started fixing up an old farmhouse in Bell Buckle. I have been in the military and indirect sales, and when my daughter was very young, I started staying home with her. After she started school, I decided to find something “just for me” that I could do from home. I had already been involved in direct sales, but I wanted something where I could connect with women my age.

After a few years of searching options, I decided to start a blog and then a YouTube channel for women over 40. Now, I’m on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube connecting with and helping women over 40 and over 50 feel comfortable and relevant with their style and makeup looks.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This blogging journey has not been easy. Technology is always changing and very few people around me can relate to my vision for what I do or know how to help me navigate the changes that occur often in the world of Social Media and YouTube. Sometimes the days are pure joy connecting with women who reach out and say “Thank you, you’re a bright spot in my day”. And some days are filled with nothing but tears and frustration trying to navigate “the new algorithm” of one social media platform or another. Or trying to learn and get better at what I do and not knowing where to go to get the information.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Women my age are often uncertain about makeup and clothing and how to put it all together for their body type or their day to day life. We all want to feel good about ourselves and the way we look, but we don’t want to dress like our daughters or granddaughters. I connect with women on a daily basis with humor and by being myself and letting them see my day to day life. They know I’m not judging or better than them. I am them. I’m over 50, gravity is taking over and life gets crazy. But makeup and fashion don’t have to be complicated and should make you feel comfortable about yourself. At any age.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My relationship with God, my husband and family are all a blessing. It makes my heart happy to connect with other women who know what this stage of life is like. It’s crazy and wonderful, busy and slower all at the same time. We know who we are, where we’ve been and where we want to go next.
