Daily Inspiration: Meet Camden West

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camden West.

Hi Camden, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
At a young age, my parents put me in music lessons. I started off with the piano and then became interested in the drums and soon after fell in love with the guitar. I grew up going to concerts and quickly knew that music was what made me excited. A few friends and I formed our first bands in middle school and then as time went on, I played with various bands and began experimenting with learning how to express myself through songwriting. In high school and college, I studied classical guitar while at the same time writing and playing as many shows as I could. After college, I moved back home to Las Vegas and began immersing myself within the local Las Vegas music scene until I made the move to Nashville, TN.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Just like any career choice, there are always obstacles that can make things difficult, but there are always ways to persevere. It is easy to struggle with really honing in on who you really are as an artist. I think when you stay true to yourself, everything falls into place.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a singer/songwriter/guitar player with an Americana/Folk/Pop/Rock sound. It has always been difficult for me to really place a pinpoint on exactly what type of music I create, and because of that, I think it helps me stick out because it’s hard to fit me in one specific box.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years I see myself continuing to write songs and performing them for the people that want to listen. I am hopeful that I will have a supportive audience that will continue to grow with me.
