Daily Inspiration: Meet Lyndsey Coonrod

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyndsey Coonrod.

Hi Lyndsey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I’m a singer-songwriter originally from IL, who has been writing since high school. I was inspired to write my first song when watching a songwriter on an Opera episode named Zach Sobiech, who had written an uplifting song about his cancer journey before he passed away. I was so inspired by the depth of emotion and the profoundness in a message that a song could portray.

I had never thought of songs before as a means to convey one’s life wisdom and revelations gained along the way. I thought this was such an incredible thing and was so inspired that I wrote my first song later that night, without ever having the intention to write one. The words and inspiration just came to me, and I’ve never stopped chasing those inspiring moments since,

I aim to write songs that inspire and encourage those around me; songs that uplift and make people’s days better. There’s power in a song that can connect with an emotion the listener is feeling and a song that can bring them to a place of beautiful familiarity and nostalgia, and that’s what I absolutely love about songwriting.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think the musical journey is always a complicated one because the path is different for every artist. Each songwriter and artist has their own unique brand and therefore their own best ways to succeed.

I think figuring out the correct path to success and having the patience to consistently pursue that path and passion is always a challenge. But at the end of the day, following your passions regardless of how challenging it may be, is way more rewarding than always wondering what if.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think what sets me apart from others is the intentionality I have when writing a new song of trying to capture the deepest perspectives that life gives us.

There’s something about deep lyrics in a song being able to open us up to things we’d never see otherwise and I think that’s something that makes life a little richer.
