Exploring Life & Business with Tom Regal of TriTomR Endurance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tom Regal.

Hi Tom, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Needing to get in back to some semblance of healthy living and fitness I challenged myself to complete a triathlon. Over the next 15+ years, I embraced the active lifestyle which evolved to helping others challenge themselves as well. Coaching – what started as a hobby became a profession and my love for finding mechanical efficiencies moved into bike fitting as well. 5 years ago, I started my own business to complete the jump from the corporate business world to being an entrepreneur.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Lots of struggles! It was quite different being a one-man show. Learning how to build a website, handle social media, and all the legal, insurance, and marketing efforts would seem overwhelming at times. My business didn’t quite fit the generic model either. I’m not a bike shop but I have a bike fitting studio. I sell some retail for specific items to adjust your positioning on a bike, but I’m not full retail shop either. It seemed more challenging to find support for the business end of things.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about TriTomR Endurance LLC?
I am an Independent Bike Fitter and Triathlon Coach. I don’t sell any bikes, so I’m not going to steer you one way or another when it comes to bike brands.

My purpose is to get you in the most comfortable and efficient position on a bicycle – whether it is a beach cruiser, Mountain, Road, Gravel, Cyclocross, or Triathlon. I want to help you find the joy in an active lifestyle and riding a bike.

One of the services that I offer is for a Pre-Purchase bike fitting. Quite the concept, right? Utilizing a Purely Custom Dynamic Fit Bike, along with Velogicfit motion capture software, I work with you to find your optimum body position for whatever type of riding you will be doing. Then by using those measurements we search through and find the correct size, type, and brand of bike for you. Armed with that info you can then begin your shopping without worrying that you will be spending a lot of money for the wrong size bike. And I work with all levels of athletes.

I have been trained by Dan Empfield – the father of the triathlon bike and creator of the Quintana Roo brand and follow his fitting (F.I.S.T.) protocol. I’m certified with USA Triathlon and US Masters Swimming for coaching. I specialize in Triathlon but coach the individual swim, bike and run sports as well.

I’m also the co-host of the Athletes in Motion Podcast. Where we bring engaging guests to tell their stories that we believe are relatable to the everyday athlete (and we believe that everyone is an athlete). Available anywhere you get your podcasts.

Any big plans?
I only just moved to the area a year ago so I’m still getting settled in. I’m loving the community and looking forward to engaging even more.
