Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Hollis.
Hi Alex, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The real story of Treemont began long before we ever imagined owning it. We knew the previous owners (only the second family to hold the property since it was built in 1987), and one day they casually mentioned they were thinking about selling. Shannon joked that she’d love to buy Treemont, though in her mind it felt impossible.
A week or two later, they came back to her with a serious question: Would we actually consider buying it? They knew I had property experience and that, together, we might be able to make it happen—though it would still be a stretch. Over the next couple of months, they gently but persistently encouraged us, sharing why they believed we were the right next stewards for the mansion.
Shannon fell in love with Treemont immediately. I took a little more convincing, weighing the investment and what it would mean for our future. Eventually, the vision, the potential, and the legacy of the property won me over. Now, through the highs and the challenges, we’re fully committed to Treemont and everything it can become.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Has it been a smooth road? Not exactly. The learning curve was steep and immediate. Neither Shannon nor I had any experience in the events or venue industry when we purchased Treemont, so those first few years were a crash course in everything—operations, sales, marketing, landscaping, guest management, and the dozens of behind-the-scenes details that make an event run seamlessly.
We poured an incredible amount of sweat equity into the property. Some nights, we didn’t sleep at all. I remember starting to mow the lawn at 9 or 10 p.m. and finishing just as the sun came up. Fortunately, we don’t have close neighbors to hear the mowers and blowers running through the night.
In the early days, we stayed until the very last guest left and then spent hours shutting the property down—turning off lights, locking doors, resetting spaces. It was exhausting, but it taught us every inch of the business.
Over time, we’ve streamlined our processes, improved the physical workflows, and built systems that make each event far more efficient. Today, operations run much more smoothly. Sales and marketing remain our biggest areas of ongoing growth, but we’re always learning, evolving, and improving.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Treemont Mansion?
Today, Treemont Mansion is known for hosting weddings, celebrations of life, corporate gatherings, and major life milestones. Our property offers a mix that’s truly hard to find: the timeless elegance of a historic mansion paired with the comfort and functionality of a more modern build. The mansion was designed for entertaining, and the interior spaces are spacious, open, and flow beautifully—something historic venues often struggle with.
What sets us apart is this blend of charm and practicality. Guests get the grandeur, architecture, and aesthetic of an old-world estate, but couples and planners get the convenience, layout, and amenities of a contemporary event space.
Brand-wise, we’re proud of the reputation we’ve built: warm, welcoming, detail-oriented, and deeply committed to every event hosted on our grounds. For readers considering Treemont, we want them to know that we’re not just a venue—we’re dedicated stewards of an experience. Whether you’re celebrating something joyful or something deeply meaningful, our team and our property are here to make the moment unforgettable.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people are surprised to learn that I’m the type who will happily take off on a long trip, or even move somewhere entirely new, on a moment’s notice. It’s a bit of a contrast to the rest of my life, which is highly structured and planned well in advance. My day job is all about project management and long-term planning, so spontaneous travel has become my way of keeping life balanced and a little unpredictable.
