Hi Kristen, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Sit Still is more than a salon, it’s a vibe. When I first heard about it, I had one thought: Nashville needs this.
I’m a mom. I’m a multi-tasker. And like so many parents here, I wanted a place where my kids could get an exceptional haircut and actually enjoy it without turning it into a full-on production.
Sit Still brings the calm and the connection. It’s built for modern families… yes, it’s stylish and efficient, but it’s also filled with thoughtful little details that make kids (and parents) feel right at home. From lollipops to online booking, every part of the experience is designed to make life a little easier… and a lot more fun.
But the best part? The people. This salon has introduced me to so many amazing families. I’ve witnessed first haircuts, birthday blowouts, even just Tuesday trims that turn into heart-to-hearts. It’s a privilege to be woven into the everyday moments and big celebrations of this community.
And because not every kiddo loves the buzz of a busy salon, we offer quiet hours. Because we believe in meeting every child where they’re at. We’re not just in the haircut biz we’re in the confidence-boosting, memory-making, parent-helping biz.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening Sit Still? Dream come true. Also: a crash course in “how many permits can one person possibly pull?”
Unexpected delays, supply chain chaos, explaining a new concept to the community… there were days it felt like I was swimming upstream. But I believed in the brand and in the city I live in. I knew Nashville was full of families who got it.
There were definitely some “Will this ever open?” nights. But here we are. Doors open in two locations (Green Hills and Cool Springs). Clients happy. And seeing those little faces light up in our chairs? It’s everything.
Sit Still isn’t just where kids get cool haircuts. It’s where they feel seen, celebrated, and maybe even a little cooler walking out than when they came in. That’s the magic. And that’s what keeps me showing up.
