Today we’d like to introduce you to Tayzha Collier Alexius Shelton.
Hi Tayzha Collier, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Lexi and I met through our job, and when we would hang out we would cook for our friends. We always had such a good time, that we decided to turn our hobby into a side hustle. It’s honestly just grown from there. We’ve been blessed to be able to give back to our communities through owning this bakery, and it’s been a truly faith-driven and rewarding journey so far.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When starting a new business there will always be struggles, but we have been blessed with strong support systems, and accepting communities where we have expanded so much faster than we could imagine. We also are pretty stubborn woman who refuse to let anything stop us from achieving our goals. It’s a lot easier to co-own a successful business with a business partner that wants to succeed as much as the other.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
BIG BACK BAKERY is our brand because we love GOOD food. We love to cook, and we don’t skimp on the good stuff. Being a “big back” has kind of become a derogatory word in our society, but we want to bring the love back to people who want a sweet treat every once in while. We use whole ingredients, but definitely aren’t lacking in the sugar department. Think about what your grannie would be cooking for the family, that’s the kind of desserts we like to make. Our big back banana-nut bread is our number one selling item, to give you an idea.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Our families are hands down are biggest supporters, along with our communities, but we give all the glory to the Lord. God has opened our eyes to see what our purpose in life is, and that is to share our love to our communities through our passion of baking!
