Inspiring Conversations with Iyah Aku of Mama Iyah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Iyah Aku.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The first time I pushed my daughter’s head out of my yoni, I literally died every time spiritually and was reborn as the best version of myself. Thoughts of birth pain scared me in my first pregnancy, but intuitively I felt confident.

My rebirth experience prepared me for postpartum and motherhood. Months after having my oldest daughter Zaire a new passion was brought to life, Zaire and Mommy.

A year later as a Wholistic Doula, I began educating and preparing pregnant women mentally, and spiritually for labor and birth. My experience with my clients has never felt like work. It is more like a sisterhood. Being reborn spiritually and leaning heavily on my intuitiveness has brought me to where I am today.

I intend to continue to walk beside pregnant women, plant seeds, and create in the vortex of understanding. I am standing tall as a mother, artist, warrior, Wholistic Doula, film creator & director. If you are planning for natural labor and birth or need some love and support during postpartum, hit me up!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course not, that wouldn’t be any fun. As I have mentioned before as a nurturer this is my soft spot where sometimes my heart and emotions can get the best of me.

I have learned that the energy that is moving in that space can be channeled to create a force for balance. Growing emotionally and spiritually has been such a life saver.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Mama Iyah?
I am every woman therefore my aim is to help every woman fully experience the awe of pregnancy and birth.

I am a Wholistic Doula and the CEO of Mama Iyah. I specialize in pregnancy education and preparing her mind and spirit for a vaginal birth. Also, I offer support during Postpartum. I am known for my natural approach surrounding pregnancy, birth, and life after birth.

I am most proud that I continue to courageously do my best for myself in order to fully show up for my clients. Also, I am proud that I pour into myself an abundance of love and my cup overflows into every sister that I help during their journey of pregnancy.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
If you are wanting to have natural labor and birth and need that extra boost of confidence. I would highly suggest you read Reclaiming the Spirituality of Birth and Birthing From Within.

These two books completely changed my outlook on birth before I had my first daughter Zaire. I love these two books!!
