Inspiring Conversations with Suzanne Kopulos and Karey Welch of Beauty Consultants & Strategists

Today we’d like to introduce you to Suzanne Kopulos and Karey Welch. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Beauty CS started with a friendly introduction between co-founders Suzanne Kopulos and Karey Welch. At the time, Suzanne was represented by Ford Models working as a celebrity stylist, Creative Director and On-Air personality in Chicago, while Karey was building record-breaking growth strategies and product marketing plans for major beauty brands. Working together seemed like a natural fit, as our professional paths began to cross and emerging brands began to reach out looking for support selling at Ulta and Sephora. Originally our agency was brought on board to develop competitive strategies within the brick-and-mortar retailers with product development expansion, eye-catching visual displays, sales objectives, storytelling and creative social campaigns. Our roster of clients also sold at QVC, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Neiman Marcus, Macy’s and more. With years of retail success, clients began to turn to us to with a single idea to enter the beauty space and task us with building a brand from the ground up! With expertise in naming, logo design and product development powered by creative social media, influencer campaigns and digital marketing strategies, we have the ability to catapult brands to next-level success. We have expanded into accessories and fashion concepts creating a complete brands’ eco-system that shoppers are craving. We are entering an incredibly exciting time in direct-to-consumer and social media / digital media advertising where we have built the dream team for helping entrepreneurs with big dreams and ideas enter the market and sell their vision with a rapidly growing beauty and fashion obsessed community. We have organically grown from a consulting agency to the next big brand incubator.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Beauty and fashion are two of the most rewarding and challenging industries to date! We have developed so many amazing ideas and with little barrier to entry, we are able to bring a brand to life in a relatively short time. With that, the challenge becomes time and planning. Brand founders underestimate the creative process, developing a unique idea, and the cost associated with getting in the game. Then there’s internal infrastructure and external agency support and roles necessary for a winning team. Our job is to lay out the big picture and bring the business to a reality that can be executed providing great partnership to retailers and incredible value to consumers. Setting expectations is one of the most difficult challenges. We want to bring everyone’s dreams to life and build something beautiful! We are very sensitive to the process and know what it takes, as we are launching our very own beauty project in Spring / Summer 2022.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In a sentence. We build beauty brands. Our service offerings have evolved since we first began our company, based on the fast-paced beauty & fashion landscape combined with what we enjoy. We recently partnered with 301 Digital Media, which has allowed us a full 360 vision when working with clients. Digital strategy and media plan is crucial for any size brand today. The days of organic growth with small digital spend are obsolete. This partnership has proven very successful as we as our creative team works closely with 301 Digital Media to build a holistic all-encompassing marketing strategy that ensures audience build, community engagement, and drives website traffic.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Beauty CS is founded and grounded in relying on amazing connections, friendships and referrals. Mentors have helped tremendously throughout our careers and entrepreneurial journey. We suggest finding someone you not only admire professionally, but personally as well. Take the risk to reach out and ask for guidance and be accommodating and grateful for the time someone gives you. Karey and I love to help others and offer mentoring, guidance, or advice. It always comes back full circle. Networking is always happening. We have so many friends and colleagues in different industries that we find similarities and synergies that continuously make us better leaders, partners, and service providers to our clients.

We constantly challenge ourselves to think – How can we give back? How can we help others?
