Life & Work with Brenden Smith of Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenden Smith.

Hi Brenden, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
To keep it short, I have always had a creative drive. It took me several years to find confidence in that. Through the ups and downs of the creative process, I found what worked for me. I began filming a few months ago. It allowed me to put what I had imagined on the screen for others to see. I work for Southern Business Group in downtown Nashville as a creative director. I am fortunate enough to have been invited from my home state, Nebraska, to a fantastic team here in Nashville, where I can continue cultivating the vision.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not. I have failed, over and over again, to the point where I began getting used to it. I have worked for several companies throughout the past few years. I spent time finding what I wanted to do. Working in areas I knew weren’t right for me was the biggest struggle.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work as a creative director. I combine social media, film, and management into one effective channel for clients. I specialize in creating videos that bring out the best in those I work with. I am most proud that I continue to try new things. I used to be so cautious and skeptical of new opportunities. Now, I jump in and learn. It always opens a new door. My genuine passion for my work sets me apart. I will spend hours outside the office working on editing or making sure things look just right. I love it.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role you feel it’s played for you?
I believe more so in energy. Everything in life comes back to who we are. What we put out will be returned to us. I believe I am attracting all that I have thought about for so long.
