Life & Work with Christin Baker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christin Baker.

Hi Christin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Tello Films about 12 years ago and it was when streaming services Netflix and Hulu were just starting. I am very proud to say that we are one of the oldest streaming services.

We started making short-form original content (web series). We are very proud to have received 3 Emmy nominations for 3 of our actresses.

In 2019, we then started making feature films, more specifically Holiday RomComs for the LGBTQ community. I have now made my 4th LGBTQ Holiday RomCom in 4 years and started a thriller franchise called “Scare BNB”.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course not!

I have tried things and totally failed at them. I thought that many projects would launch us to mainstream audiences that did not. I have partnered with a few people that didn’t quite work and then had to start all over again with brand new subscribers.

So, you make the best choice you can with the information that you have, and then when you realize you are the wrong figure out how to make necessary changes.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a producer/director and specialize in content for lesbian/queer women. I founded a site called Tello Films that focuses on content for lesbian/queer women.

I am most proud that we are one of the oldest streaming sites and that we have had Emmy nominations. My ability to make high-quality/low-cost content and my focus on the niche community is what sets us apart.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
They can follow me on social media: @christintello (Twitter and Instagram) or also follow me on Facebook “A Baker Production”.

We are always looking for people interested in investing in movies or supporting our content through crowdfunding or purchasing them on our Vimeo page.
