Life & Work with Elizabeth McGlathery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth McGlathery.

Hi Elizabeth, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In January 2019, my husband and I became first-time parents to a beautiful two year old boy through adoption. I wanted a way to be able to stay home with my son since I had missed out on so much of his little life already AND a way to give back. I had a background in marketing & apparel and a love for retro aesthetics. With the help of YouTube & Google, I learned graphic design and began creating. I ended up leaving my full-time job, launching my business, and here I am almost three years later still getting to stay home with my son. It’s been a dream come true!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey with Honey has definitely had its ups and downs. One of my biggest challenges has been finding that healthy work-life balance. When you own your business and you’re a one-woman show, there is a to-do list that could never end. Your marketing can always be better, you can always improve your products, there is always a blog or email to be written… so you have to create boundaries with yourself. I started my own business to have freedom, and if I am not careful, I could easily give that freedom up and miss out on the life I worked so hard to create!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I create apparel & accessories with the perfect touch of modern boho mixed with retro flare. I love the way Honey designs and statement pieces put a smile on people’s faces. I always use socially responsible garments and donate $2.00 from every purchase to life-changing causes. When people shop with Honey, they can feel good about their purchases and know their money is making a difference.
