Today we’d like to introduce you to Izak Blanke.
Hi Izak, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Since I’ve been younger, I’ve always been creative. I started off drawing, sculpting, & painting— it was always an escape for me. I was inspired by movies and that’s what I tended to draw from. As I got older, I leaned more into color realism and it was something that I felt tested my skills the most and felt the most rewarding. As most teenagers, I didn’t know what to do with my life. I always went back to art and was hopeful I could fulfill that dream. In 2017, I went to Black Diamond because I had heard great things about Derek & the team. Now I’ve been tattooing almost 8 years and I love what I do!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Over all it’s gone pretty smooth. Like any other service industry job, you have to build a solid clientele before you get comfortable. It takes a lot of sacrifice and time from family. I am still trying to get better at my craft and very grateful for everyone that has been on this journey with me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m pretty much a jack of all trades when it comes to art in general and I think that’s what has made me do many styles in tattooing. I do enjoy doing a lot of saturated, detailed work. My favorite styles are color realism and neo traditional. If you love anything horror/gothic , fantasy, or nature—then I’m your guy.
