Today we’d like to introduce you to Titanisha Lawless.
Hello, my name is Titanisha Lawless I was born and raised in Nashville, TN. Growing up, I was always active and into sports, but had a passion for healthcare. My primary sport was basketball, and my dream job was to become a nurse. After my time was up with basketball I continued to pursue college full-time. During that point and time of my life, I was solely focused on my academics. During college, I begin to notice that I was putting on lots of unhealthy weight. I was stressed, battling depression, getting over a relationship, and overcoming trials and tribulations that have made me resilient today.
I began to pursue personal training starting out I paid someone to train me, due to my busy schedule and the unique things I was battling with during that season of my life which was 2017-2018. Let’s fast forward to now over the past few years I have become my own inspiration when it comes to fitness and nutrition. I wake up every morning at around 4 am and make sacrifices in order to get to where I am today. I have obtained consistency and discipline. Over time I have learned a lot through my fitness journey while becoming resilient.
The journey has not been easy, but during the process when things got rough obtaining discipline and consistency has helped me push through the hard times. I am now a certified personal trainer and nutritionist through ISSA which is a huge step I’ve taken to help me, and my business grow. One day I plan to open my own facility in my hometown Nashville, TN, until then I am currently training outside of another gym in West Nashville, TN.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has not been a smooth road. Some of the things I have struggled with along the way have been emptiness, relationships/friendships, self-confidence, depression, failures, procrastination, and financial crisis.
The things that I have struggled with along the way have helped me become resilient and I have learned not to lean on my own understanding there has to be something to lean on and for me, that was allowing God to be my leader and to obtain discipline. Fitness has become something that I enjoy doing now and it is an outlet for me to release anything that I may be holding onto internally.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a healthcare provider at Tennessee Oncology where I take care of cancer patients who come into the clinic to receive their chemo treatments. I am known for being a great healthcare provider, and fitness guru. I am proud of most of the accomplishments that have helped me grow as a person.I am proud of the growth I have made in my academics at The Tennessee State University making the dean’s list for two semesters in a row, induction into the National honors society, business (certifications), and self-development overall how far I have come.
The things that set me apart from others are my integrity, strong work ethic, leadership, discipline, self-confidence, empathy, and self-awareness, and I am a dependable person who instills hard work and consistency I get shit done regardless of any obstacles.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Optimism and believing in your self-confidence will carry you a long way.
