Today we’d like to introduce you to Shauvik Sharan.
Hi Shauvik, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Sure, my story’s been anything but linear, but I think that’s what makes it interesting. I didn’t grow up planning to be a musician in the traditional sense. I was always drawn to creativity, writing, performing, building things from scratch, but it took a while to realize music was the core thread connecting all of it.
I started playing guitar seriously first which was my entry point. Over time, songwriting became more important to me than just playing or performing. I got obsessed with not just how a song sounds, but what it says; the emotion behind the sound. That obsession pushed me to develop my voice as both a writer and an artist. I’ve always been genre-fluid; I like taking the emotional honesty of singer-songwriter music, the polish of pop, and the edge of alternative or electronic production, and blending it into something that feels personal, but also shareable.
The turning point came when the music I was making during my time as a student — just me chasing something honest — started to connect with people. That’s when I realized this wasn’t just something I was trying, it was something I was meant to pursue. Since then, I’ve been building brick by brick — putting out songs, performing, constantly evolving my sound, and learning how to navigate both the creative and business sides of being an artist today.
What changed everything for me was the moment I realized I could pour my full, unfiltered self into my songs, every feeling, every question, every high and low, and then watch people connect to that. When strangers started reaching out saying my music made them feel seen or helped them through something… that was the turning point. That was when it stopped being a side project and became something I had to pursue.
Since that turning point, I’ve gone all in. I’ve released music that’s reached global audiences, performed at major venues, collaborated with well-known artists, and built a growing fanbase that connects deeply with what I create. I’ve also composed and produced for film, scored campaigns, and seen my work featured on major platforms.
Every step since has been about leveling up both creatively and professionally while staying rooted in the same emotional honesty that started it all.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been adapting to how fast everything moves, especially with technology and social media. As an artist today, you’re not just making music, you’re also expected to be a content creator, a marketer, a strategist. Learning how to show up consistently online without feeling like I’m diluting the art has been a real balancing act.
I’ve also faced plenty of rejection and failure in the past. Be it songs that didn’t land, projects that fell apart or moments where I thought something would be a breakthrough and it just… wasn’t. It’s easy to feel like you’re shouting into the void sometimes. What’s kept me going is persistence, this inner belief that I have something worth saying, even if it takes time to be heard.
And honestly, one of the hardest parts to accept is how much luck plays into success. Right timing, right platform, right person discovering your work, all of that matters just as much as talent and effort. That used to frustrate me, but now I try to focus on the only thing I can control: showing up, creating with honesty, and being ready when the luck hits.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a singer-songwriter and producer who thrives on blending genres and emotions to create music that feels both personal and universal. My work sits at the crossroads of alt-pop, indie, and electronic sounds. But what really defines it is the emotional honesty I pour into every song. I specialize in crafting lyrics and melodies that connect deeply with listeners, inviting them to see their own stories reflected in the music.
I’m known for my ability to balance vulnerability with polished production. Songs that are raw and relatable but also sonically engaging and modern. Beyond writing and producing my own music, I’ve also worked on film scoring and composing for campaigns, which has expanded how I think about storytelling through sound.
What I’m most proud of is the connection I’ve built with my audience. When people reach out to say a song helped them through a tough time, or that they felt truly seen, that’s the real reward for me. It’s proof that honesty and authenticity resonate, even in a crowded music landscape.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
