Rising Stars: Meet Keith Herendon of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Herendon

Keith, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started making rocking chairs in high school and then I was designing furniture.
I received the most unique Artist of my class. I worked for all the top Ornamental Iron Shops in Nashville.
I started my business on my own in 2007 after a place I was working went under.
I have the most unique house in my neighborhood. I never stop pushing myself to create more. As Leonardo Divinci said I also paint.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s never been smooth. Maybe a year or so, but the recession hit me hard. I almost lost my house it was a learning experience.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I make handrails for the money. But I make Gothic hand forge items like lanterns and grilles and other challenging Old World items mostly pieces from Italy or Spain.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Lots of audio books self help book.
Dale Carnige books
Anything on improving ones self.
Lots of philosophy books.
