Rising Stars: Meet Matthew Davenport

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Davenport.

Hi Matthew, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Music has been something I’ve been passionate about for a long time, and over the past few years I’ve been putting more and more of my focus into performing live and growing as an artist. While I don’t have any officially released music yet, I’ve been fortunate enough to play live gigs around my area, which has given me valuable experience and helped me develop my confidence as a performer.

I’m constantly writing, practicing, and working toward releasing original music that represents who I am as an artist. Every performance teaches me something new, whether it’s connecting with an audience, improving my stage presence, or becoming a better musician. I’ve also been sharing my journey through social media, where people can follow along as I continue to grow.

Right now, I see myself at the beginning of a long journey. My goal isn’t just to release songs—it’s to build a career that lasts by continuing to improve, perform, and create music that people can connect with. I’m excited about what’s ahead and grateful for every opportunity that helps me move one step closer to that goal.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s true for most musicians. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing the excitement of performing live with the patience it takes to build everything behind the scenes. I’m still working toward releasing my original music, so there have been times where progress has felt slower than I wanted it to.

Another challenge has been learning that success doesn’t happen overnight. Every gig, rehearsal, and new opportunity has been a chance to grow, even when things didn’t go exactly as planned. I’ve learned to be patient, stay consistent, and keep improving instead of comparing my journey to someone else’s.

Looking back, those challenges have made me a better musician and have motivated me to keep pushing forward. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m excited for what’s still ahead.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work is centered around music, performance, and creating experiences for people through live shows. I specialize in performing, connecting with audiences, and bringing energy and emotion to every stage I’m on. While I’m continuing to develop and release more original material, I’ve spent a lot of time building my experience through live performances, learning how to engage a crowd, and growing as an artist.

What I’m most proud of is the dedication I’ve put into improving my craft and continuing to show up, whether that’s performing for a large crowd or a smaller room. I’ve learned that being an artist is about more than just making music — it’s about creating a connection with people and leaving them with something they remember.

What sets me apart is my commitment to the performance side of music. I care about the energy I bring, the way I interact with an audience, and the feeling people take away after seeing me perform. I’m constantly learning, evolving, and pushing myself to become a better musician and performer.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was always a curious and creative person. I was interested in a lot of different things, especially music, movies, and storytelling. I’ve always enjoyed learning about what makes people connect with certain songs, characters, and ideas.

Music has always been a big part of my life. I loved discovering new artists, learning about different styles, and eventually finding my own way to express myself through performing. I’ve always been someone who likes to ask questions, try new things, and keep improving.

Looking back, I think those interests really shaped who I am today. My curiosity and creativity are a big part of what pushed me toward music and continue to inspire the work I do.
