Rising Stars: Meet Rebekah Anthony of Franklin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebekah Anthony.

Hi Rebekah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Every home has a story, and mine began with a simple appreciation for spaces that feel thoughtful, gracious, and genuinely lived in. Over time, that early love for creating calm, meaningful environments grew into Rebekah Anthony Design — a studio where I help families shape homes that feel both welcoming and beautifully collected. I draw from my California-coastal roots and the timeless character of Franklin, blending relaxed textures with classic details. And I always find that plants have a lovely way of adding life, balance, and a sense of ease to a room.

As my work expanded, I noticed that nearly every family struggled with one essential element: the light that fills a home. How to soften it, direct it, filter it, and make it part of the design instead of an afterthought. That’s why we created The Shade Studio — offering custom window treatments, tailored guidance, and careful installation that bring comfort, privacy, and polish to every space. We take a neighborly, steady approach to the process, making sure clients feel supported and confident from the first measurement to the final reveal.

Together, these two parts of our business work in harmony — designing homes that are elegant yet approachable, structured but never stiff, personal without being precious. We believe a home should feel like a trusted companion: a place that reflects who you are, grows with your family, and brings a sense of calm at the end of the day.

And it’s my joy to help create that for the people we serve.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every meaningful journey has its hills and valleys, and mine has been no different. The parts of the business that involve meeting with clients, imagining possibilities, and watching a space slowly come together — those feel natural to me, almost like second nature. There’s something very special about listening closely, understanding how a family lives, and shaping a room that supports them with both beauty and comfort.

But I’ve learned that running a design studio also comes with its fair share of less-glamorous companions: shipping delays, damaged boxes, deliveries that arrive on the wrong day, endless receiving paperwork, and the inevitable tangle of taxes and back-office details. Those things can feel a bit like weeds trying to grow in a garden you’ve worked hard to cultivate.

Still, even those challenges have taught me something valuable. They’ve helped me slow down, stay patient, ask for help when I need it, and create better systems for the families I serve. In their own way, they’ve made the business sturdier — the way good bones make a room better, even if you don’t notice them at first glance.

And while freight logistics and tax forms may never bring me the same joy as a beautifully layered living room or the perfect plant in the perfect corner, they’re part of the larger story. A reminder that meaningful work is often a mix of grace and grit — and that every little step, smooth or bumpy, helps create a home for someone else.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In my work, I focus on creating homes that feel both gracious and genuinely lived in — spaces that invite people to settle in, exhale, and feel cared for. I specialize in full-service residential design: everything from furnishings and space planning to renovations, new-build selections, and custom window treatments through The Shade Studio. My design language blends the relaxed ease of my California-coastal roots with the timeless, traditional character of Franklin, often brought to life with greenery and natural textures that make a room feel grounded and alive.

What I’m most proud of is that each home I design truly reflects the family who lives there. No two spaces look the same, because no two families live the same. I love creating houses that become welcoming retreats — places where people can gather, rest, grow, and feel unmistakably at home.

What sets my work apart is the heart behind it. I take a gentle, relational approach, really listening to how a family moves through their days and what makes them feel at ease. I don’t design for trends or to impress; I design to create comfort, beauty, and meaning. My goal is always the same: to craft spaces that feel thoughtful, collected, and deeply personal — rooms that support the rhythms of a family’s life and quietly make each day a little better.

At the end of the day, helping people love the homes they live in is the part of this work that feels like the greatest privilege.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with me through full-service design, renovation guidance, room refreshes, and custom window treatments through The Shade Studio. Every project begins with a kind, simple conversation about how a family lives and what would make their home feel more like a retreat.

We also love collaborating with the many trades who help bring a home to life — painters, electricians, plumbers, wallpaper installers, fabric houses, seamstresses, carpet and flooring specialists, local artists, and all the talented craftspeople who lend their hands and their skill. Working with them is often a true gift.

And for those who want to support us, sharing our work or recommending us to someone who needs thoughtful, personal design makes all the difference. It’s the kind of encouragement small businesses are built on.
