We’re looking forward to introducing you to Amir Fabiani. Check out our conversation below.
Amir, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Honestly, my day starts with listening to music, feeding the stray cats, and a little gaming while I plan things out. I spend time listening to upcoming artists, both to discover fresh talent and to find inspiration
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m an independent producer from Reading, PA, helping alt-rap, pop, and electronic artists create moody, genre blending tracks. I keep my circle small so I can give my full attention to artists I truly believe in, people who share not just musical taste, but values and perspective.
Right now, I’m working toward getting my aunt, grandpa and my stray cats a home. Music is my passion, but being there for my people and those in need is what I live for.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A major turning point for me was confronting my mother about her lack of support and care for her kids and family over the years. I’ve gone homeless because of her decisions, one in particular was a loan that she convinced me and my retired grandfather to sign instead of her. Despite working a job at 16, winning multiple awards in the music and game industry, and running a profitable DJ business before I left high school, I never received support or answers for their lack of it, just debt with no explanation.
That experience opened my eyes to how even family can prioritize their own interests over accountability and relationships. It taught me the importance of self-reliance and not letting other people’s choices define my future.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
When I was 24, I lost everything. My home, my car, my job. Debt was piling up, and I couldn’t even afford food some days. I slipped into some bad habits just to escape, but even in that darkness there was a flicker of light. I recognized the few people that believed in me even when I didn’t, and that kept me going.
Eventually, I got a car, though it came from a shady dealership that caused more problems later, it got me moving again. I returned to work, stayed committed to my music, and a year later I’m in a much better position. Currently I’m traveling between Philadelphia, Nashville, and Atlanta, working with artists nonstop.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to raising awareness and educating people about the injustices and harm happening in the world. I believe in standing up for victims and fighting for equal rights and a fair justice system no matter how long it takes.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I was told to become a lawyer or a software engineer, then eventually anything that wasn’t what I wanted to do that I could make money from. All my parents seemed to ever care about was money, their entire life revolved around materialistic things.
What I truly wanted was freedom to do what made me happy. Music became that for me, it motivated me to keep going even at my lowest. When I had nothing, I still had music, my friends and my cat Lucyfur.
