We recently had the chance to connect with Alex Bovee and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Alex, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
During the week it’s mostly answering emails and doing computer work such as budgets, vendor recommendations and keeping up with client checklists. There are meetings sprinkled in, depending on where we are at in each weddings planning process. Sometimes its a zoom to go over a budget or talk design and other times it’s catering tastings and meetings with rental companies to design our table settings. On wedding days we are there for at least 12 hours so when the venue lets us in, we are usually there to begin set up and direct other vendors as they arrive. Then throughout the day we are keeping everything on time, making sure photos begin when they are supposed to, lining up and cueing the ceremony as well as keeping the reception timeline on track.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m the owner of Vision in White Events, a wedding and event planning company in Nashville. We’ve been crafting unforgettable moments for 12 years, and I’m incredibly proud of the growing team of talented planners we’ve assembled. Our passion lies in transforming visions into reality, creating personalized experiences that reflect each client’s unique style and story.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Most recently is the Covid 19 years. Seeing everyone come together to help each other when no one really knew what was going on was a powerful way to see the way the world can come together.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
That you have to keep going and pivot to make things work a different way. Struggles are the best way to learn lessons and ensure you don’t run into the same experience again.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I think so! My closest friends would say I’m the same in public as I am at home. I’ve always told my planners to go above and beyond when you are able to and I try to keep that mentality too, in both my personal and work life.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Since we are planning weddings years in advance, I wouldn’t feel right about abandoning my couples but I would begin the process of fading out from working and travel for the rest of my time.
