An Inspired Chat with Alexa Goldie

Alexa Goldie shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Alexa , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
We just finished a long run of shows and my first tour, so my days look a little bit different right now than they have for the past few months. I am usually rehearsing, writing, recording or prepping for weekend shows, however, now that we have a but of a break, i’ve been lucky to be home with family in Canada and relaxing. A normal day right now consists of tea in the morning, walking my dogs or going to the gym, catching up on emails and then teaching instruments to local students. On the weekends i’ve been traveling to my family cottage, which has been a good way for me to reset.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Alexa Goldie. I am a country singer-songwriter from Ontario, Canada. In 2021, I moved from my small town in Ontario to Nashville, Tennessee. Ever since making the move to Nashville, life has been a whirlwind. In 2024, I was chosen by SiriusXM to be in their Top of the Country Program where I was a semi-finalist. Now my songs are played on the radio! Last year I was able to perform at some of Canada’s largest festivals such as Ottawa Bluesfest, Boots & Hearts, etc. This year, I’ve opened up as direct support for Josh Ross, Owen Riegling and many others at festivals like Calabogie Guitars & Gasoline, Lucknow Music in the Fields and the Sound of Music Festival. I hit a major milestone this year by releasing my EP ‘Good Reason To Go’ and we just wrapped up my first ever headlining tour!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I wouldn’t say that a lot has changed about me since I started in the music industry. I still play sports, love spending time at the cottage and spending hours locked in a room writing music. Maybe one thing that not a lot of people know about me is that I have always been a music teacher at heart. I started teaching vocal and instrument lessons to local youth in 2016, and ever since I have always made it a priority to offer online lessons while I’m on the road. Some of the most impactful people in my life have been my teachers, and I want to keep pushing that forward.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Take risks! Although I am dreamer, I have always been a worrier. I would tell my younger self that it is okay to experience change and try new things, even when they are scary. There have been times where I have let worry take over and not tried things because I’m afraid of the consequences.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Connecting to fans. Every time I step into a room to write, the goal is to write music that will connect with fans. When I was growing up, the thing that made me fall in love with country music was the authentic story telling in every song. Artists like Deana Carter and Carly Pearce always inspired me because even though I hadn’t yet been through heartbreak, their songs about heartbreak were written so well that they made me feel things I hadn’t felt before. With my new EP ‘Good Reason To Go’, I wanted to write a collection of songs that no matter what age or stage of life you are in, you can find a song to connect to.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope when I am talked about, people talk about how I listened. In my industry, it is easy to release music and ask people to listen to my words, melodies and stories. However, it’s not so common in this industry to listen to the fans. I try my best to meet every fan, read every comment and DM. There is one story that comes to mind. I met a young fan years ago and she told me a story about how she deeply connected with one of my songs. The story she told me stuck with me and about 10 years after meeting her for the first time, she came to a show of mine. When I saw her in the crowd, I stopped the show and played that song for her. Seeing her reaction meant everything to me, and I know it meant the world to her that I took the time to listen to her.
