An Inspired Chat with Bobby Blevins of Nolensvile

We recently had the chance to connect with Bobby Blevins and have shared our conversation below.

Bobby, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
As a business owner that deals with daily PTSD issues, I don’t think people realize this affects my thinking on a daily basis. I try hard to try and help as many people as possible and walk the way Jesus walked. Sometimes my thoughts are scattered and I have trouble trusting others and I pull away. This is the hardest thing I deal with as a business owner.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello my name is Bobby Blevins and I own Nolensville Drone Production, we provide ground and aerial multimedia for commercial construction, events, tourism and advertising. I started doing drone work in 2020 to assist businesses with their advertising during covid. We then went on to help 501(c)3’s and the community grow in a positive way. I currently mentor young adults and college students who want to get into media production. We’ve been blessed over the past five years. Some of the projects we’ve worked on this year is the construction of the new 2.2 billion dollar Nissan Stadium, Music City Drop, and we shoot the professional photography and aerial videos for Nashville Convention and Visitor Corps.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Two people have assisted me in growing the company. We do not run any ads and we base our growth off faith and prayer. Brian Snyder who owns Wash Associates and Brian Anderson who owns Bear Construction have assisted me more than anyone. They’ve seen my PTSD side and still have faith in me, when I don’t have confidence in myself. They always seem to believe in me and guide me to what is best.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I feel like giving up a lot. I have a lot of anxiety and when I go into PTSD fight or flight mode I am scared of everything. That includes running a business and believing in myself. My PTSD has pushed a lot of customers away over the years and it’s hard to push through at times. We don’t make a lot of money from Dec-March, and it is difficult to survive during this period. It causes a lot of stress. I just pray and continue to move forward.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I’ve had the opportunity to mentor a lot of young people who have wanted to do drone work. The person I admire most is Daniel Magee who runs Flyby-Video. Daniel is the only person I have mentored who has actually made a drone business work. All my of students have found jobs outside of media production and moved on. Daniel is a special person and a wonderful human being.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I hope people realize I’m just trying to help build others up and not hurt anyone. I have never wanted Nolensville Drone Production to be successful, I just wanted to help others grow their businesses. I’ve been on an island for five years, I started this during covid, because I couldn’t find a job. I feel that I’m able to pace myself doing this work and not stress too much. At the end of the day I just want people to know Jesus is real and He loves you no matter where you are in life.
