An Inspired Chat with Brenda Best

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Brenda Best. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Brenda , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
Right now, I’m chasing growth as an artist …reaching more fans, sharing my songs with the world, and yes, even a GRAMMY nomination. If I stopped, I’d miss the joy of creating, performing, and connecting with people through music. Music keeps me present, keeps me laughing, and even in the busiest or toughest times, it’s what makes me feel alive. And lately, making TikToks or sharing little moments online has added a fun, unexpected layer of joy to the chase.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Brenda Best, a singer, songwriter, and musician based in Nashville. I perform close to 200 shows a year and create music across genres, including Christian, country, rock, pop music holiday songs, and even French songs — which I sing and write fluently. One highlight has been writing and performing ‘The Bitter End’ in New York City — it’s now nominated in multiple categories at the Josie Music Awards, including its official music video. We also made a documentary and a full video with Mirror Mirror Productions.
I’ve released an EP, and my music is currently being considered for a GRAMMY in 2026. I’m also a proud GRAMMY Voting Member. Looking ahead, I’m excited to release new songs in 2026 and writing and pitching music that could connect with movies and film projects.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
If I had to say who saw me clearly before I could see myself, I’d say it was God. I’ve always loved music — it’s in my family, and I started writing and singing as a child — but for a long time, I didn’t truly believe I could make a career out of it. I struggled with serious health challenges, including ulcerative colitis, and had surgeries that nearly took my life. Those experiences could have stopped me, but they also made me realize life is short, and I had to pursue the gift I’d been given.
God gave me the courage, the opportunities, and the guidance to keep going. Moving to Nashville, performing hundreds of shows, and creating music — including Christian songs that feel closest to my heart — has been a journey of trusting that vision. I’m still learning every day, but I know now that I can follow the path God has laid out for me, even when I couldn’t see it myself.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me resilience, perspective, and faith in a way that success never could. Going through serious health challenges and intestinal surgeries, showed me how fragile life is and how precious every opportunity truly is. It made me realize that my music isn’t just about performing or winning awards; it’s about connecting, inspiring, and giving joy to others. Success is wonderful, but it can’t teach you gratitude, patience, or the strength that comes from overcoming real hardship. Those lessons from suffering are what fuel my creativity, my passion, and the drive to keep following my dreams, even when the path feels uncertain..

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the industry tells itself is that music is only for the young. Talent, vision, and dedication aren’t limited by age — they grow stronger over time, and the music industry would benefit from recognizing that more often.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, I always give it my BEST — pun intended — even if no one notices. Sometimes people don’t tell you what they think, and realistically, I do question whether what I release will resonate. But even then, I pour my heart into it. Creating, performing, and sharing songs brings me joy and purpose in itself, and I trust that the work I put out into the world matters, whether or not it’s recognized immediately.
