Chris Ewing shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Chris, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Reading! Audiobooks, physical books, fiction, non-fiction – I love to read it all! Nothing recenters me after a long work day like being curled up at home with a good book!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Chris, the owner of Ivory & Green Creative House, where we build stylish & strategic brands to help small businesses stand out & succeed in their industries. From logo design, to website development, to copywriting – you name it, we bring it to life.
I am passionate about empowering home-grown and dreamer-owned businesses (because that’s us too)! I believe every business deserves a brand that’s way more than just a pretty face! So, our projects are intentionally built from the ground up, starting with in-depth strategy and ending with a growth-generating final product.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Without a doubt my partner, Connor.
On a personal level, I have changed drastically since I met Connor in 2016, and, through all the change, he has always seen, supported, & loved the core of me.
From a work perspective, Connor truly saw & believed in my business’ potential right from the start. In fact, I only had the opportunity to start a business because I had a partner who supported me. I would have NEVER had the opportunity to get my business off the ground had it not been for Connor’s support, emotionally AND financially. Connor saw me & believed in me enough to take a risk, having no idea all that Ivory & Green would become for us.
I started my “own” business with the gift of his belief & support.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
“Yourself” is a beautiful thing to be &, one day, you’ll authentically see that.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Equality. Period.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
When I was in my early 20s, I was certainly just doing what I was told to do. I was following a path that was clearly laid out for me by others.
Fast-forward nearly a decade, featuring many huge & hard shifts in my life, personal beliefs, & community, I have really done a 180 on my life path. I’m a very different person now & I truly feel like “myself”, doing what I am supposed to be doing. I’m much more aware of my inner world & the world around me & I try to make positive impacts on both.
