We recently had the chance to connect with Malcole Ayers and have shared our conversation below.
Malcole, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, I’ve found a new passion outside of work: journaling! For those who know me, I’m typically not very talkative unless we’re close or the conversation is business-related. Journaling has become a meaningful outlet for me—a space where I can connect with God, reflect on daily life, and map out business ideas.
I’m excited to share that I recently launched my very first journal on Amazon, The Reflection Journal by Malcole Ayers. If journaling is something you’re into—or want to explore—I’d love for you to check it out! It’s available now on Amazon.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi everyone! My name is Malcole Ayers—I’m 26 years old, a proud mom to my amazing four-year-old son, Brayden, and a passionate beauty professional. I’m a salon owner and certified eyelash artist, and I’ve been in the beauty industry for a little over three years now. I absolutely love what I do—helping people look and feel beautiful is truly my passion.
In October 2024, I took a leap of faith and opened my very own salon, Cole’s Creative Creations, located in Madison, TN. As the first in my family to pursue salon ownership, the journey has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. I’m still learning and growing every day, but I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.
If you’re in the area, I’d love for you to stop by! And if you’re looking for a salon to call home—whether as a client or a beauty professional—Cole’s Creative Creations is the place for you. Come be a part of something special!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Before I could truly see my own potential, my mother, Donna Washington, already knew I was destined for greatness. She consistently spoke life into me, encouraging me to dream big and never settle. Her words still guide me today: “Never think small—because God says you can have it all.”
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
What did suffering teach me that success couldn’t? Wow—there’s so much power in that question. Suffering taught me to truly love and appreciate success. It showed me how to remain humble in moments of achievement and to carry compassion for others, because I’ve walked through those challenging moments myself. The lessons found in the struggle shaped me in ways that success alone never could.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
For the most part, I strive to show up as my authentic self in the public eye. What I share is a true reflection of how I aim to live every day. Of course, no one is perfect—the only perfect example we have is Jesus. That said, I strongly believe in living with integrity: if you speak about it, you should be about it.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Something I’ve come to understand deeply—something many may overlook—is that we’re here for a greater purpose. This life is temporary, and it’s up to us to discover the unique calling God has placed on our lives and fulfill it.
I believe my purpose is to lead people to Christ—not just within the walls of a church, but through everyday life. Whether through conversation, connection, or simply how I live, I strive to be a light that points others to Him.
