We recently had the chance to connect with Michelle Gomez and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity 5000%. I believe in doing the right thing even when no one is watching. This world is full of people who lie and cheat and I’m not only trying to do what’s right but wanting to raise my kids to know what’s right also. The example I show is what they will know.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Michelle. My journey into photography began out of something really hard, the loss of my son. He is my youngest son’s identical twin. In the midst of grief, I found a way to channel my pain into something beautiful and meaningful. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever went through and photography saved me from the darkness. Photography became not just a creative outlet, but a way to honor life, love, and the memory of sweet Jacob.
I’ve now been photographing for 9 years, with the last 5 years being full time. I pour myself into learning and growing. My goal is always to give my clients the very best.
Beyond photography, I’m a wife of nearly 11 years, a homeschooling mom to two incredible boys (Elisha and Gabriel), and a woman of faith who leans on God in all things. Every piece of who I am influences the way I see and capture the world, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to turn fleeting moments into timeless memories.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband. He was always able to see who I was rather than who I thought I was. My confidence has never been amazing. My self esteem stinks if we are being truthful here. I get imposter syndrome a lot, but he keeps me grounded and rooted in the beauty of my work.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Does every day count? Totally kidding! But in all honesty, it’s truly hard running a business. There’s no easy way to do it and you’re gonna have lots of ups and downs. It’s like a rollercoaster ride. But the good day; man those are the best. It makes you so thankful for them! Sometimes clients are difficult, sometimes life gets in the way. Focus on the prize, and all else will work itself out.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely!
I am the same Michelle in my studio that you see in the grocery store. I love seeing people I know and chatting with everyone, ask my husband. Authenticity is missing in 2025 but I’m not going to let it leave me.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Worrying about EVERYTHING. Because my worrying is what also fuels my work. I worry so I work and I work fast because I worry hard.
