An Inspired Chat with Tailah Scroggins

Tailah Scroggins shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Tailah, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
I think the time I felt most loved was when Jesus met me in the middle of my mess. I didn’t deserve it at all…I was running in the opposite direction and living in sin. I used to practice New Age and witchcraft while calling myself a Christian. When I finally came to the end of myself, I experienced His love so deeply, not because of anything I had done, but because of who He is. I didn’t feel like I deserved it, and honestly, I didn’t. None of us do. But that’s the beauty of the gospel. God’s love is unearned, unconditional, and freely given. The more I came to understand that truth, the more it set me free.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Tailah Scroggins! In 2017, I walked away from the New Age after a radical encounter with Jesus completely changed my life. Now I spend my days creating faith-based content, preaching, mentoring women, and encouraging people who are searching for freedom and truth. By God’s grace, my videos have reached millions of people, and I get to share the gospel with people all over the world.

The biggest thing I’m working on right now is the launch of my new book, Breaking Demonic Chains. It’s my story, but it’s also a guide for anyone who feels trapped in spiritual deception or battling oppression. I poured my heart into it because I know what it’s like to be bound—and I know the freedom that’s found in Jesus. I hope that this book helps people experience the same freedom and joy that God gave me. It released on August 12th and it has been so incredible to hear the readers testimonies.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that completely reshaped how I see the world was when I realized I couldn’t live in the “grey” anymore. For years, I was blending astrology, yoga, and crystals with the Bible, convincing myself it was harmless. I thought the spiritual world was just a harmless free-for-all. But the deeper I went, the more I started slipping into darkness, and on the inside I was drowning. I remember feeling so empty, so depressed, like I had no purpose left.

It was at rock bottom that I finally saw the truth: the spiritual realm isn’t neutral. There’s no fence to sit on. There is a real God and there is a real Enemy, and I had been opening doors to the wrong kingdom. That night I surrendered my life to Jesus, I really surrendered, no more half-in and half-out…and He rescued me. He pulled me out of that pit and opened my eyes to the reality that this world is black and white: light or darkness, freedom or bondage.

That moment changed everything. Now when I see Christians living how I used to, I want to tell them, “Jesus is worth leaving everything for.” Because He really is.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me things success never could. Jesus Himself was called a man of sorrows, and when I look at Scripture, I don’t see anyone God used greatly who didn’t suffer deeply. Crushing olives produces oil—and that spiritual oil that is produced when we are crushed is the anointing we need to carry out our assignment.

It’s easy to worship God when everything’s good, when life feels like it’s flowing in your favor. But when you’re in the fire—when your world is falling apart—that’s where the rubber meets the road in your faith. Will you still love Him when it costs you something? Will you still cling to Him when nothing makes sense? That’s when faith becomes real.

Suffering strips away the surface-level and material comforts and shows us the truth of our relationship with God. Just like trials reveal who your real friends are, suffering reveals whether we love God for convenience—or for who He is. And the truth is, God cares more about our character than our comfort. He will allow us to walk through valleys, not because He’s cruel, but because He’s shaping us to look more like Jesus.

Paul said it like this in Romans 8:18: “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” That’s the perspective suffering gives. It teaches endurance, perseverance, and eternal vision. If life were just comfort, we’d get spiritually fat and lazy, asleep to eternity. We could miss Him. But suffering shakes us awake, sharpens us, and prepares us for eternity, and that far outweighs anything this world could give.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think my closest friends would say that what really matters to me is living with purpose. I don’t like to waste time on things that don’t last, so I try to invest in what’s eternal…faith, family, and people. They’d probably also say I care a lot about honesty and being real. I’m not interested in putting on a mask or pretending to have it all together. I’d rather have deep, authentic relationships where people feel safe to be themselves. And honestly, they’d probably say I light up the most when I see someone find freedom or step into who they’re created to be. That’s what inspires me.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Yes. So many times. I’ve gotten the things I thought I wanted—whether it was a relationship or material things—and it never satisfied me. I’d feel a quick high, and then the emptiness would creep right back in. That’s why the whole manifesting trend drives me crazy. People are pouring their energy into attracting stuff that will never fill them, because deep down, I know what it’s like to get the thing you thought would fix you, and still feel broken inside. That’s the lie of New Age deception.

There’s a famous line from Blaise Pascal that says, “There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of each man which cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator, made known through Jesus Christ.” That wrecked me when I finally understood it. I realized nothing in this world could fill that hole in all of our hearts. Only Jesus can. And once I found Him, the search for satisfaction finally ended.
