An Inspired Chat with Tara Brown

We recently had the chance to connect with Tara Brown and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tara, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Cat videos. I can watch funny and sweet cat videos all day long! They make me happy.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Tara Brown, and I’ve discovered that humor is the universal language that connects us all. As an award-winning comedian and professional speaker, I specialize in clean, family-friendly comedy that brings people together rather than dividing them. Whether I’m performing for Fortune 500 companies, community organizations, or families on cruise ships, my goal is always the same: to create those magical moments where an entire room erupts in genuine laughter. There’s nothing quite like the energy of an audience that ranges from eight to eighty, all sharing the same joke. It’s what drives my passion for comedy and communications—proving that humor can be both smart and accessible, professional and playful.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I lived in New York, I used to work with a sweet older woman named Frida. One day, after work, she and I were going to walk to the subway together, and she said to me “wait a minute Tara, I have to make sure I have change, in case we see a homeless person.” That really touched me. A year later, she passed away, and when I went to her wake, I got to meet a lot of her family members, many who were bi-racial. She was Jewish, and I thought to myself how tough it had to be for her to marry someone of a different race at the time she did. I always admired her. and had a tremendous amount of respect for how strong a woman she was. I think of her often.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Give yourself grace and know that things will work out. They always do.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely! It’s too exhausting to try and be someone I’m not, and I have no desire to do so. I pride myself on being transparent and authentic, especially in my comedy, as I feel like people can relate to that more.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I was kind, treated everyone with dignity and respect, and that I made you laugh along the way.
