We recently had the chance to connect with Tonya Pineda , owner of Slow Burn Bookshop and have shared our conversation below.

Tonya Pineda , owner of , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What battle are you avoiding?
My tbr πŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ‘€

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Slow Burn Bookshop is Nashvilles first mobile romance bookstore!
We specialize in romance , and carry all sub genres!

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband. For sure. He’s always known I could make any dream I had come true. And he’s supported me like no other.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Resilience . To own a business is to become resilient. Nothing is ever going to go the way you planned it and you have to be prepared to pivot and put on a smile while you do!

My struggles have shaped me into who I am and I wouldn’t change a thing.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Honesty being real when it matters.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
100% I own a boudoir photography business for the last 8 years and loved every single aspect for years. It wasn’t until I accomplished literally every business goal I set for myself that I realized it wasn’t even something I truly wanted.

And that’s okay. Life is about changes and it’s okay to grow and want new things .
