Ashley Greer on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Ashley Greer and have shared our conversation below.

Ashley, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Of course! I take pride in the work I do, my services, and the connections I make. I show up with intention. I pay attention to detail and I always want to leave an impression. I’m reliable, consistent, and professional. I’m always looking for ways to improve and I accept feedback. I care about the work that I do. It’s a reflection of me.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Ashley Greer. I am the Founder, CEO, and Chef of The LadyBug Kitchen. Growing up in a family that loves food, I spent a lot of time in the kitchen with my mother, grandmothers, aunts. As a little girl, I loved holidays and family gatherings because I could get in the kitchen, watch, learn and help make some of my favorite foods! This is where my passion for cooking comes from. I love bringing joy to others through food and at The LadyBug Kitchen we create memorable culinary experiences through love and legacy! The LadyBug Kitchen specializes in catering and private chef services. We work to create a menu of home-cooked variety and to bring flavor to gatherings and events. What makes it special is the love and legacy! Now as an adult, my mother, grandmother, aunts, cousins and even my daughter at age 5 work alongside me in my business to continue the legacy!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents. I watched them get up and work hard everyday. They have both been on their jobs for years. This showed me the value of consistency, dedication, and integrity. I was taught if I want something to show up, put in the effort, and earn it.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Keep being you–hardworking and caring no matter what others think you’ll do great things.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My friends would say that what really matters to me is my family and those who are closest to me; loyalty and helping others. They would say the work that I do outside of being a chef. I’m also a social worker, currently a school counselor. My students and helping them in their growth and transitions also really matter to me.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’m definitely doing what I was born to do. I feel like I’m fulfilling my purpose. My social work heart and my passion for cooking continue to bring joy and serve others.
