We recently had the chance to connect with Brian Emmel and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is to read the latest news, practice fingerpicking exercises on my guitar, exercise, then work on promoting Grand Staff Music School’s new Rock Band Classes coming November 15, 2025.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Brian Emmel, musician and small business owner of Grand Staff Music School since 2008. We offer private music instruction to the local Williamson County communities. We also play a heavy role in teaching home-schooled students and offer in-home lessons.
Our atmosphere is cozy and quaint, giving a private and calming experience. All teachers have direct communication with their students for questions and rescheduling. We are the most flexible and personable of businesses in our category!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My father was a very successful business owner and expanded his outlets over time. He was a very fair person to his customers and employees. It served him well over the years, and so I think I acquired his work ethic.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I learned to be of the mindset that if something gets lost or destroyed, to build it back better, and it has always been just that!
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Relationships. Being fair and kind to people.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
The relationships between my students and their families. It was always more than a music lesson!
