Check Out Abu Da Don’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abu Da Don.

Hi Abu da, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my career during high school while I was playing football at Hendersonville High School. During high school I started hosting events. This continued as a transitioned to play college football at Tennessee State University. Once I stopped playing, I began taking hosting more serious and hosted events from house parties, pep rally, step shows, club events, comedy shows, and even concerts at some of the biggest venues in the state. Such as Bridgestone Arena and FedEx Forum. I started making music officially during the pandemic. Before that, I ran for a position and I made a remix to Shotta Flow by NLE Choppa for my campaign. It was fun to make and it was something different but I didn’t think much of it. At the time hosting and parties were my main focus. Ultimately, SpiffyBoyDanny and Warren Kashh, who are producers, are the reason I stepped into the booth. They both were cooking up beats during quarantine and Warren had an in home studio and I decided one day to write something and record it. That’s when we started cooking up songs and “Quarantine Dream” was created. It’s crazy to look back at it. It all started because we were bored and wanted to pass the time and now I’m not only able to host events but also able to perform.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing is ever smooth. You have things from life, to work to writers block, to not being able to find the right beat. It’s hurdles all of the time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Like I mentioned before. I wear a lot of hats. I started Top Flight The Brand a while back, I host, I curate events and I am an artist. I’m most proud of how resilient I have been through everything. Like I said, it’s always hurdles that come up but being able to overcome those and keep my head up is what I am most proud of. That is also what sets me apart as well. I am able to adapt and able to keep the ball rolling. Sometimes it might slow down but it won’t ever stop. I have done a lot of things that I dreamed about but it’s not over yet.

How do you think about luck?
I believe that everything happens for a reason. I believe that the only L’s I know are LESSONS because we don’t take any losses. I believe that I have been blessed to have a great network that has put me in places that I could only imagine. I don’t think it is luck. I think that when you do go, go will happen to you and you should look at the positives in everything because sometimes your emotions and feelings can hold you back from your blessings.
