Check Out Alex Reymundo’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Reymundo.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born in Acapulco, Mexico. My family came to America (legally) when I was two years old and settled in Ft. Worth, TX. Both my parents worked 2 & 3 jobs to provide opportunity for our family. It was important to them for their children to always have a strong sense belonging & self-respect. I’m proud to say all 6 of us siblings are entrepreneurs of some sort. I have fond memories of my childhood playing sports and being surrounded by extended family… VIVA MEXICO! I learned hard work & hospitality from the back of the house of DFW’s finest & sometimes not so finest hotels/restaurants. At 22, I took a job bartending at the FunnyBone Comedy Club (Arlington, TX) where I met & served Ron White a Tequila on the night of his amateur debut, there I discovered LIVE standup. I remember my face literally hurting from laughter after the first full show I attended… I was hooked! It wasn’t long b4 my first open mic and ten months later, I left my job and began the pursuit of a comedy career.

Ever since I have performed near 125 shows per year! My comedy break came when I was selected as one of The Original Latin Kings of Comedy (on SHOWTIME) alongside Comedy greats; Paul Rodriguez, Cheech Marin & George Lopez, this gave me a national platform. Next came P’Diddy’s Bad Boys of Comedy (HBO) and two of my own 1hr Comedy Specials (Red-Nexican & Hick-Spanic) airing on SHOWTIME Comedy Central & NETFLIX. I’ve been blessed to have performed overseas (for our great military) + all 50 states, including one night bars, comedy clubs, most of the major Vegas stages to The Apollo Theatre, Shoreline Amphitheatre, The Fillmore, Radio City Music Hall, on deck of the USS Roosevelt at sea and The Grand Ole Opry… I’ve even flown with the legendary Blue Angels … It’s been a ride! I’m thrilled to say I’ve been happily married (to the same person) for 27 years, Father of two children (both young budding artists) and reside in Louisville, KY. All along the way, I’ve consumed Tequila as my spirit of choice, sharing my thoughts & mood with others. Thanks for digging my nonsense America. In 2011 while drinking in Mexico for FUN with old friend and fellow comedian (Ron White) we stumbled upon the Rivesca distillery.

After tasting, my comment was “across the board, all four expressions, hands down best Tequila I’ve ever had.” Ron (being a famous Scotch drinker) stated “that’s not just the best Tequila, that’s the best drink of liquor I’ve ever had.” We went for FUN not to own a Tequila label but when we found out that this amazing juice did not have a US presence, our business-savvy took a leap of faith. We begged for the rights and swore to apply the same heart & passion while speaking of this Tequila as the Rivera family does when they make it. In 2013 Number JUAN Tequila was born, we are now an award-winning Tequila (5 festivals – 2 bronze, 2 silver, 16 gold & 1 platinum medal) in 26 states and growing every day. I really want America to know that Ron & I are not spokespersons, we own & operate Number JUAN Tequila. I look forward to continuing speaking my mind & sharing this amazing part of my culture with the world for years to come. All for JUAN & JUAN for All.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No matter how smooth or rough the road is, was and will be in the future, I keep my faith in GOD, my commitment to Family and finding a way to find the positive in every situation. Here’s a secret everybody … GOD wins!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Truth about me is that I’m a producer, I like putting pieces together. and I love manual labor. I find it a challenge when someone or something tells me what I can’t do. I’m known for my Comedy and now Number JUAN Tequila but people that really know me know that I strive to stay positive & happy (my kids might debate that) but the fact is I’m most proud of my Parents, my Bride & Children. When you ask what sets me apart?… (LOL) maybe my 3rd-grade teacher summed it up when she wrote in my report card “really good with his hands and all the kids like him.” 🥃😎👍

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risks are important to me because how else do you challenge yourself? I like to trust my instincts but there must be a follow through of hard work to risks taken. The three biggest risks or decisions of my life were all impulses; Comedy, my Bride Terri & Number JUAN Tequila. All three have been and continue to be positive forces in my life, I couldn’t be happier with my choices.
