Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Skelton.
Hi Alexandra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started in a small town in NC. Grew up with 4 sisters and a brother. Didn’t have much growing up and that goes for physically, financially and emotionally. The way we grew up is what encouraged me to dig deep within to be more than I ever knew. I had it rough after high school, bad relationships. I had 2 sons and unfortunately ended in single parenting. Those boys are what drives me. I manage a Gym at which I have grown a love for my physical health at which aligns with my mental health. I know I have to be my best self for my kids. I also make candles, women’s workout attire, along with welcome signs for your home. I just truly enjoy learning new things and that’s all these things came to be apart of my life. I think a new city with my kids and away from everything I know is what constantly drives me to new limits.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. I joined the military young at which I experienced sexual harassment and sexual assault.
I was in a domestic violence relationship at which kept me in a constant fear.
Took a job to move out of my hometown away from everything I knew, starting from scratch with just my son and I.
Having a little human watching your every move when you’re unsure of your next move is scary
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I manage a new gym in Nashville named Trufit. Getting into this environment has truly introduced me to something that has helped me grow in so many ways. Fitness has been more than physical for me it’s also my mental. I’m known for my loud laugh and outgoing personality. I’m most proud of my heart. How no matter how it was betrayed or broken I still kept my laugh and still light up the room wherever I go. What sets me apart is I’m no victim to my trials, I am a survivor, I am a better woman, a better mother, a better sister and a better teammate.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
My personality has always been outgoing, always laughed. I was interested in just about anything nothing too specific. I enjoy singing and dancing. Music always soothes me.
