Check Out Alexandra Thompson- Norman’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Thompson- Norman.

Hi Alexandra Thompson-, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Alexandra Thompson-Norman, and I’m a Doctor of Behavioral Health and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My journey into this field has been deeply personal and driven by a lifelong passion to help others. From an early age, I found myself intrigued by the human capacity for resilience—the ability to navigate difficult times and come out stronger on the other side.

I founded ReAlign Counseling and Consulting Services with a clear vision: to create a space where individuals, couples, and families could reconnect with their authentic selves and build meaningful, lasting change. My focus is on mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, grief, relationship struggles, and addiction recovery, but at the heart of my work is a deep belief that healing happens in relationship—through connection, understanding, and support.

ReAlign is not just about therapy; it’s about empowerment. I want my clients to feel seen, heard, and equipped with the tools they need to thrive. I’m passionate about reducing the stigma around mental health and making therapy a place of strength and growth. It’s all about meeting people where they are and walking with them through their journey, whatever that looks like.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When I look back on my journey, I’ll be honest—there have been plenty of challenges. Building ReAlign Counseling and Consulting Services hasn’t been easy or smooth in the traditional sense. Starting a business, especially one rooted in a deeply personal mission like mine, comes with its fair share of hurdles. There’s the pressure of establishing a brand, building trust with clients, navigating the complexities of the mental health field, and balancing the demands of running a business while also being present for my clients. There were times when I felt uncertain or stretched thin, and it was easy to wonder if I was on the right path.

But what I’ve learned through all of it is that growth doesn’t happen without discomfort. The challenges have been some of my greatest teachers. They’ve pushed me to develop new skills, tap into deeper reserves of resilience, and refine my vision for ReAlign. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of embracing vulnerability—both in my personal life and in my work as a therapist. In this field, it’s easy to try to ‘have it all together,’ but I’ve found that true connection happens when we show up authentically, with all our strengths and imperfections.

If I had to sum it up, I’d say the journey has definitely been worth it, but it wasn’t without its challenges. Every step of the way has been an opportunity for me to align more deeply with my purpose, and that’s been the most rewarding part of it all. So, looking back, I wouldn’t say it’s been smooth, but it’s certainly been meaningful—and that’s what matters most to me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At ReAlign we offer both in-person and telehealth services. My approach is grounded in a deep belief that each person has the capacity to heal, grow, and thrive. I work collaboratively with my clients, helping them uncover their strengths, navigate life’s challenges, and build resilience.

A key part of my approach is integrating tools like my guided wellness journal, ReAlign Your Best Self! This journal is designed to support self-reflection and personal growth between therapy sessions, encouraging clients to take actionable steps toward emotional well-being, self-awareness, and holistic healing. It’s not just about addressing symptoms, but empowering clients to create lasting change and align their lives with their true potential.

I’m deeply committed to normalizing mental health care, and I see therapy as a powerful tool for growth and empowerment. Through my work, I hope to help individuals build stronger relationships, embrace life transitions with confidence, and cultivate a sense of peace and fulfillment.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Happiness, for me, isn’t a destination but rather a practice. It’s about alignment. It’s about being in harmony with who I am, living in a way that reflects my values, and feeling connected to a greater purpose. For me, happiness comes from knowing I’m walking the path God has designed for me. I believe that each of us has a unique purpose, and when we align ourselves with that purpose, we experience true fulfillment.
What makes me happy is knowing I’m living out that purpose through my work and personal life. Seeing the transformation in my clients, the pivotal moments when they realize their own power, their own capacity for change. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about walking alongside someone as they move through difficulty and emerge stronger, more self-aware, and aligned with who they truly are. It’s a reminder that I’m not only fulfilling my personal calling but also contributing to something bigger than myself

On a personal level, I find happiness in the small, everyday moments—time spent with loved ones, moments of stillness, moments of reflection, and moments of spiritual enlightenment, which yield opportunities to learn and grow. I also find joy in continuing to develop and refine my approach to helping others, whether through my therapy work or through my wellness journal, ReAlign Your Best Self! It’s about creating harmony in my life and sharing that sense of alignment with others. Ultimately, happiness comes when we’re able to show up as our truest selves, connected to others and to the world around us.
