Check Out Amanda Shaw’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Shaw.

Hi Amanda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up in New Orleans, I was surrounded by a rich musical community that shaped me. From fais do-dos to jazz, blues, and rock ’n’ roll, I soaked it all in and developed a style that pushes the boundaries of traditional fiddle playing. My goal has always been to make people feel like they’ve never seen anyone play the fiddle quite like I do.

Now, as I gear up for a new project in 2025, I’m collaborating with producer Kent Wells, best known for his work with Dolly Parton, to merge Cajun influences with modern Americana. I want my music to tell stories of love, resilience, and joy—just like the Cajun traditions that raised me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The last 20 years have been full of ups and downs. Growing up as a young female musician, I’ve learned how important it is to stay true to myself and to appreciate the power of great friends and a strong community. When times get tough, I remind myself that everything happens for a reason and that I am exactly where I am meant to be.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have enjoyed a beautiful career that has spanned over two decades of work. By the time I was 15, I had a record deal with Rounder Records, appeared in Disney films, and was featured in the documentary Hurricane on the Bayou. Since then, I’ve performed on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, the Today Show, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, alongside artists like Cyndi Lauper. I’ve also earned honors like the Big Easy Award for Best Female Entertainer and a place in the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. I am so excited for this next chapter of music and to share this fresh take on the music that raised me.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I am still pretty new to Nashville so I am still figuring out all my likes and dislikes! I will say that so far my favorite part of Nashville is the people. In less than a year I’ve already made so many great friends here that I know will be in my life for a long time.
