Check Out Amanda Stewart’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Stewart.

Hi Amanda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
About two years ago, I met some folks from the area while playing a show in Bozeman, MT. They connected me with some cool people based in Nashville that helped find me a producer, Tim Bruns! We recorded, and the rest is history. Fast forward to today, and I’m already in the process of starting to record again (with Tim in Nashville). I’ve been writing with several Nashville-based writers and am beginning to spend more and more time there, writing and performing!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, It hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve been at this for so long. that I’ve played with so many talented people, lost family, friends, and players over the years, and started a family (for which I am so blessed). I feel like I’ve had several setbacks throughout the years. I struggled with self-confidence, too. I was bullied a little throughout my school years. My father passed away when I was 14, and it was hard to try when I often felt like, “what’s the point?”
I’ve always been told that I was “good.” But ultimately, I had to believe it for myself. The more I got into writing with other songwriters, performing and recording with professional musicians, and spending time in Nashville, the more I believed it. I’ve grown so much over the past five years as an artist!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Until the pandemic, I worked several jobs- technical writer, business analyst, copywriter, etc. and played 2-3 shows on the evenings and weekends. After losing my job during the pandemic, I just put everything I had into booking shows and writing, and before I knew it, I was performing full time!

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love how supportive the community is! So many hardworking artists get where I’m at because they’ve been there or are there too. There’s always something amazing going on, and I get for more!!
