Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Phillips.
Hi Amy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my career as a young model and developed not only a love for the fashion industry and photography but a deep curiosity about the inner workings of the modeling industry. My earlier experiences as a model led me into the editorial side of fashion, where I worked for Mode Magazine as a Fashion Retail Editor. During my time at Mode Magazine, I began scouting models to agencies worldwide and would later connect with my business partner, Fairlight Hubbard, to create and launch Eye Model Management in 2001. Eye Model Management is located in Nashville, TN and is a respected agency known for being selective and focusing on the development, management and placement of fashion models.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish I could say that the road has been smooth along the way but in all honesty, the fashion industry has faced major shifts and challenges that have changed the way agencies, brands, photographers, and models work. Some of the biggest struggles have been the rise of social media and influencer culture as brands often prioritize social reach over professional modeling experience. There has also been a decline in print media, fashion magazines and print editorials. All of which were once major career builders for models and photographers but digital media and online campaigns have become the focus. There have been other challenges as well like the pandemic, AI modeling, financial instability for creatives and a lack of diversity and inclusion within the industry which have all caused a negative impact.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
It’s important to remember that success does not happen overnight. The most successful models are not only beautiful in front of the camera — they are professional, dependable, confident, and willing to learn.
Take the time to develop your skills, understand your angles, practice posing, and learn how the industry works. Be open to constructive criticism and never stop improving your craft. Building a strong portfolio and professional reputation is far more important than chasing quick success on social media.
Stay true to who you are. The industry is constantly evolving, and individuality is what makes talent memorable. Confidence, personality, and authenticity will always stand out more than trying to look like someone else.
It’s also important to protect your mental and physical well-being. Prioritize health over unrealistic standards, surround yourself with positive people, and work with agencies and professionals who genuinely support your growth and safety. Most importantly, be patient and persistent. Rejection is a normal part of the industry, even for the most successful models. Every casting, photoshoot, and experience is an opportunity to learn, grow, and move one step closer toward your goal.
