Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Lonczak.

Hi Andrea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Andrea and I own Spray Tanned by Andrea, LLC based out of Rhode Island.

I was 19 years old in college, had switched my major 3 times, and wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. During this time, I also lived at my parent’s house and worked full-time at a restaurant. I honestly thought I would end up being a restaurant manager throughout my 20s – and then covid happened.

For some reason, I have always worked in and out of tanning salons, and tanning always interested me. Once I couldn’t go tanning anymore due to skin damage on my face, I started spray tanning for fun. Once Covid hit, I started spraying both my friends and family and thought it was amazing making people feel so confident.

I then decided to quit my job, drop out of college and start working for myself full time. That’s how Spray Tanned by Andrea was created. My family is old school and didn’t agree with the decision but I told myself if I was going to do this full time, I really had to put in the work.

I started with renting a room out of a salon to work out of (not commission-based) that was $150 a week and I had 0 clients. There were a few weeks when I wasn’t sure if I was really going to be able to make a living off of the career I chose.

It has now been just shy of 2 years and I have accumulated almost 600 clients and also own my own salon where girls rent space from me. Never doubt yourself and if you know deep down you’re going to work hard at something, take the risk

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I struggled with starting an Instagram business page and client book from scratch.

I had 0 followers and 0 clients with no help. It is definitely easy to get discouraged when you start working for yourself and your business doesn’t get busy right away.

It makes you think you will never be busy and there’s no point in continuing but as long as you continue to put in hard work, it will pay off.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a spray tan artist. I specialize in custom spray tans and contour tans. I am known for my natural-looking, long-lasting tans, and detailed contour tans.

I am most proud of being the only spray tan artist in my state that offers detailed, custom contour tans. I traveled 8 hours to learn from a celebrity artist.

I personally think what sets me apart from other artists is I go out of my way to ensure each and every client that walks through my door is 100% comfortable, no matter what.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Networking is an amazing way to create new relationships and meet new people. I personally network as much as possible whether it’s with local “celebrities” or “influencers” or legitimate influencers from Instagram.

I also love working with other businesses, both local and online. Word of mouth is your best friend when you own a business.
