Check Out Angela Meyer’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Meyer.

Hi Angela, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My mom was in a country cover band until I was around three years old. Those are my first memories- dancing around in a smokey beer tent at the fair while my mom was on stage. I was completely enamored with the smoke and lights of performing. My parents say I sang before I talked, and my maternal grandparents are the ones who taught me how to play guitar. Before long, I was an angsty 15-year-old learning to write songs and got my first paid gig at 16 in a little coffee shop downtown.

Fast forward to today, I’ve been a professional country music artist for darn near 15 years & have released two albums, “Consequence” and “Legions & Legends”. In late 2022, I was asked if I’d ever thought of hosting my own radio show… I knew nothing about producing radio, but have been learning quickly with each Saturday’s edition of “Muddy Water Radio” on WQUD 107.7 FM Vintage Radio out of western Illinois.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. There isn’t a set path of how to “do” what we do and keep your sanity in the pursuit. There are folks waiting to prey on you along every twist in the road.

Being a musician can be a lonely journey learning how to trust your gut and finding your people. You also have to be proficient at everything from learning an instrument to website design, social media, hair/makeup, travel planning, etc.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for playing country music. I think what sets me apart from others is that I have a really strong sense of who I am I’m not willing to sacrifice that for 15 minutes of fame. Truly, my specialty is in songwriting and performing- I love making an audience feel connected to me, each other, and themselves.

Any big plans?
I’m already living my dream. The whole goal was to be a full-time country music artist and I’ve been doing that for five years. The difference now is I’m experiencing more and more alignment with the types of shows and people that I want to be around.

I’m grateful to be able to have played in a lot of cool places from Las Vegas, NV during the National Finals Rodeo to Albuquerque, NM for the International Western Music Association’s annual convention. The goal is to just keep expanding and finding my people- all while refining my craft.
