Check Out Ashley Gerlach’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Gerlach.

Hi Ashley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
It all started with the small details for me, I have always loved helping others. I worked in retail for many years until I met my husband and he reignited the passion I have always had for the beauty industry! He and my parents helped me finally finish my licensing (only took me six years to finally buckle down and get it done!) I worked full-time at Publix while also attending cosmetology school full-time for over a year.

Once I finished school, I was ready to take on the world in my career- but I knew I had to start small and work my way up! So, I kept my job at Publix and got another job immediately at one of the local franchise salons to get some experience under my belt. I was made the assistant manager of the salon within three months of working there! After Covid-19 and the shutdown occurred- I had only ever dreamed of going out on my own and doing my own thing… well, fate had a different plan for me and I ended up signing the lease for my suite on the week of my 24th birthday! Best birthday gift ever!

It’s been a rough road for me in my business learning how to build my clientele, manage operations, and balance my home life too but it’s been such an incredible blessing to have achieved what I have in such a short amount of time- the sky is the limit and I have so many plans for the future.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, definitely NOT an easy road for me! I have lost many “friendships,” been harassed, received death threats… you name it and it’s probably happened to me. But momma did not raise a quitter! If anything, the struggles I have faced and overcame have only made me stronger and more equipped to help others that are going through the same thing!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a licensed cosmetologist, but my passion is hair color! Most of my clients refer to me as a “color genius” or “miracle worker.” The thing I’m most proud of is my ability to turn something boring or ordinary into something that will make your jaw drop and make you do a double-take!

Above everything else, I believe what sets me apart from other stylists has actually nothing to do with hair but with the way I make others feel. My goal is to make every person who sits in my chair feel like they are the most important person in the world, to help them see their true beauty and embrace it.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was definitely ALL over the place with my interests! I was always a great student and excelled in school, but I just didn’t know how to sit still and follow directions. I always had to be doing my own thing!

I became Ashley’s client in 2021 after seeing what beautiful color jobs she can do! She took my blah Mom hair and transformed me into a “hot Mom!” Lol, honestly she is really great at what she does and makes your hair the best it’s ever looked.
