Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Washington.

Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started in 2015, I was laid off from one of the biggest mortgage companies in the industry. I immediately took an admin position for a hospital’s corporate food service department. After a few weeks, I learned the director was looking for a new catering manager and asked if I could take over as interim.

From fine dining to a simple drop-off, I’ve learned it all which grew my passion for catering and decorating events. After having a few events under my belt I gained an understanding that it wasn’t the decorating or catering but being of service to people’s occasions. I eventually went back to the mortgage industry.

After living in Detroit, MI my whole life, I decided to finally listen to my father who moved shortly after I graduated high school. I picked up and moved to Nashville to approach opportunities and have a better chance at life. With photo booths becoming more popular and covid coming into our lives I wanted to create a business that was not only unique but would brighten up someone’s occasion while staying safe.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road so far.

The biggest challenge has been just being a new business. Still trying to figure out how to consistently attract the surrounding area. Obtaining resources to help me really figure out how to market my business.

What matters most to you?
Time matters the most to me. You never know when your watch is going to stop ticking. Being in a pandemic really opened my eyes that the most precious thing can easily become lost.

We are becoming less in tune with ourselves and filling up our plates with more obligations but can’t enjoy what’s in the now. I try to embrace every moment I can and make a memory with everyone I encounter.
