Today we’d like to introduce you to Bora Kim.

Hi Bora, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
We are a brand new pediatric dental office called glowing smiles. We are an office that tries to bring a positive impact on children’s dental experiences. We want to be able to create great memories for kids so that as these kids get older, they will continue taking care of their teeth and also for them to not be afraid of going to the dentist.

As a pediatric dentist, I have talked to numerous parents who are anxious themselves because they had a traumatic dental experience as a kid. I felt their anxiousness and it seems to also cause their children to become anxious. I wanted to change that and create a dental office where it feels warm, friendly, and fun!

We have a cute, garden theme waiting room that is filled with plants and cute insects, Maltese therapy dogs, and TVs above the chairs to help kids have a good time. Even with numbing injections, we make it as comfortable as we can by using a device to help them lessen any pain. We use kid-friendly terms and play with them. We often hear moms tell us how much their kids want to come back! We also get asked if parents can come too!

We also help patients who have tongue/lip ties. We see patients who have nursing difficulties and other symptoms of tongue and lip tie. We use a CO2 laser to help release their oral ties which allows them to be able to have great improvements with nursing, breathing, and overall development of the face

When a child has a large cavity on their baby teeth, most of the time they have to get a silver crown on the back teeth.

In my office, we have options of doing white crowns even on back teeth when the cavities are big.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The challenge we faced was getting delays when the office was getting built. Due to covid affecting the supply chain, we had to delay our opening day for several months.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Board-certified pediatric dentist. We provide bread-and-butter dentistry and what sets us apart is that we also do tongue and lip tie releases with a CO2 laser. We also have options for white crowns along with the commonly known silver crowns on baby teeth.

Kid-friendly office – therapy dog, TV above the chairs, the device to help reduce pain when getting injections before dental fillings, fidget toys.

We try to get to know the families. We take our time to build relationships with the kids and their families. We have many patients who follow us on our Instagram page (@glowingsmilespd) and we also follow them on Instagram so that we are connected with them and get to know their families too.

We are so lucky in that we were able to find a great location surrounded by families with little ones. Our community is very supportive and has the nicest families.
