The vision of owning a Funeral Home came to Mr. Boyice James, Jr. while completing his studies at John A. Gupton College.

The blessing of Madison Funeral Home became a reality in 2024,

Consistency, hard work and integrity is the secret sauce that has allowed what was once a dream, become a reality.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road along the pathway has been tedious.

One of the greatest challenges we have encountered, is partnering with individuals in our profession to see the vision of a funeral home that champions inclusiveness and integrity.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Interestingly, the Covid-19 pandemic came fruition just two years after completing studies at Gupton College.

The pandemic allowed me to understand the importance of funeral service practitioners. During that time, funeral homes across the country was faced with unexpected challenges to care for families, while battling a new “service norm”.
